| Insects: Bronze birch borer, birch miner |  | Tree Species: White Birch If you have a birch tree in your yard you are very fortunate, because most have died off. This is due mostly to the bronze birch borer. This boring insect bores itself right through the bark into the tree leaving a small hole which usually has a bronze stain around it. Once inside the B.B.> lays its eggs in early summer. When those eggs hatch they eat their way through tree blocking precious nutrient flow through the tree, and it will slowly die from the top down. Signs that your tree is infected: Signs to look for are small holes in the bigger limbs of the tree, also any dead branches usually the top of the tree, also any bronze like stains on the tree. |

|  | Locust tree are beautiful, however most are attacked by two specific kinds of insects; Aphids and Leaf Happers. These small green insects are hard to spot on your tree but the best way to find them is to get a white piece of paper and place it under a branch then shake the branch which will cause some of the aphids to drop and the rest will fly away. Signs of insect damage to your locust tree is a noticeable leaf shortage to the tree ie, a very thinned out tree, as if you can easily see through it. Also curling leaves with small holes, and yellow leaves are even more signs of damage. |
